Summary
Bora Ćosić: The Ironing Mouse
The Ironing Mouse by Bore Ćosić is poetic and essayistic prose about the decay of space and civilization, the limits of the world and modern man.
In this work, space is not only a physical stage of the action, but a carrier of meaning, a symbol of collective memory and quiet decadence. The abandoned tennis court, which gradually turns into a neglected dump, serves as a powerful metaphor for a world that is losing its structure, rules and purpose. Ćosić uses fragmentary narration, rich language and subtle irony to show how the order of civilization collapses imperceptibly, almost naturally.
Borders that were once clearly drawn - field lines, grids down the middle, divisions of space - are erased, just like the borders between cultures, ideologies and history. There remains only a symbolic network that still divides the world, although both sides are becoming equally neglected. Through this space, the author reflects on contemporary identity, transition, homelessness and collective disorientation.
