Summary
Simone de Beauvoir: Inseparable
Simone de Beauvoir's unpublished short novel, Inseparable, evokes her great childhood love for her friend Zaza, whose tragic death, directly caused by the prejudices and norms of society at the time, will haunt her for the rest of her life. Inseparable is also a novel that depicts the sexual and intellectual upbringing of two young girls, rebellious in a world that hinders and limits their free thought.
This autobiographical text, written five years after the publication of the novel Another Sex, lucidly and emotionally evokes the first experiences of rebellion and acceptance of feminist philosophy, childhood events as a place of emancipation, experiences of friendship as the beginning of courage and independence.
