Summary

Miha Mazzini: Paloma negra

Yugoslavia 1950: David, 42, is an army colonel, a widower with a 15-year-old son. He is tired of cruelty and war and refuses to sign an order to execute a group of political prisoners even if he knows it means his own death. His friend the General (62) intervenes and he is sent on an impossible and suicidal mission to redeem himself. He must go to a remote mountain village and disarm a group of local smugglers led by Michael (47). David's son will remain in the city. He will be safe in his elite school because he will be under strict supervision. If David made a mistake, his son could simply disappear. In the village, David meets Marija (40) and they fall in love. Maria is Michael's lover, she sold her body for her daughter's food last harsh winter. Michael has a feeble-minded son and strange and tense triangle shapes: David, Maria and Michael try to control themselves not to hurt their offspring. In the morning, the young people know all the songs by heart and form a mariachi band. In addition to smugglers, even young people now walk around in Mexican uniforms, armed to look more authentic. And David's commander comes to the village to see how David is...
