Summary
A.P. Kezele: Return of the Goddess
Wandering around Šibenik, where he was born, the young student Danijel finds a stone statue by chance. That event will change his life. Because what he found was a forgotten Goddess who was worshiped by our ancestors in the Neolithic era. Soon Danijel will find out that his Goddess is not just a piece of old stone, but a living expression of the spirit of the past that carries within it hope for a different future for the whole world.
But, before the true role of the Goddess figurine is revealed, the story takes us 6000 years into the past, to the heart of the old Neolithic culture that flourished in our area at that time. Zora, a girl who gave her love and hope in life to the Great Mother, is waiting for us there. And the Goddess was dying before her eyes, leaving behind only the promise that she would return one day.
The Return of the Goddess is a stunning story about the unknown past of Old Europe (Danilo-Hvar culture in Croatia), about the true cradle of civilization and the spiritual achievements of ancient peoples; about their trust in life, the customs and rituals with which they created happiness and celebrated the presence of the divine in themselves and everything that surrounded them.
At the same time, The Return of the Goddess is a warm personal story about love that has bridged the immeasurable chasm of time. It is also the story of a people who peacefully surrendered their world to warriors and conquerors, following their conscience and their beliefs, and even more so their Goddess who passed them on to the time when Her voice will be heard again.
