Summary
Moliere: The Fortress
Harpagon, a character who with his wealth and influence determines the fate of other characters and on whom the further course of the plot depends, obsessed with material goods, is the only one (including all the characters but also the readers, i.e. viewers of the comedy) who does not understand the motives and relationships that surround him. It is precisely in him that the "comedy of character" is reflected - emphasizing one characteristic of a character that will be mocked in different ways throughout the acts. The humor of misunderstandings, "misunderstandings" in communication causes laughter. Tvrdica, otherwise cunning and treacherous, in front of the audience in the wider context of the action, proves to be naive. As the reader is given to see the motives of all the characters of the comedy and the action that is presented at the very beginning, the mockery of Harpagon's greed and avarice acquires a multidimensional character depending on who is his interlocutor.
