Summary
Philip Dick: The Killer
The Killer is a 1969 novel by Philip K. Dick, which will become one of his most famous and successful works. Time magazine named it one of the 100 most important novels written since 1923, calling it "a deeply disturbing existential horror story, a nightmare from which we'll never be sure we've woken up." The novel takes place in 1992 in the North American Confederation, where trips to the moon are already common, and influential organizations employ people who work to block the parapsychological powers of telepaths, in order to preserve privacy. One of them is led by a hero named Ransiter, with the help of his deceased wife Ella, who is in a state of "semi-decay", a form of existence that allows for limited consciousness and the ability to communicate after death.
