Summary
Jorge Luis Borges: The Universal History of Dishonor
A collection of famous Borges stories in a new translation.
The narrative exercises that make up this book were written in the period 1933 to 1934. I think they derive from my re-reading of Stevenson and Chesterton, from the first films of Von Strenberg and, perhaps, a certain biography of Evariste Carey. He abuses some procedures: various enumerations, sudden interruption of continuity, reducing the whole life of a man to two or three scenes. They are not, nor do they try to be, psychological, J.L.
