Summary
Frane Paro: Glagolitic primer
The first book printed in Glagolitic letters saw the light of day in 1483, and the first primer in 1527 in Venice. The author of this latest primer does not dwell on the many peculiarities of Croatian Glagolitic culture, nor does he offer any special instructions in the field of calligraphic art, but tries in the introductory text and with the help of pictorial representations to bring us closer to - as he says - the projecting, "designer" ideas of Constantine the Philosopher - Saint Cyril. He tries to decipher the visual logic embedded in the Glagolitic writing system, which is very important for understanding the morphology and evolution of Glagolitic forms and for learning about the greatness of Constantine's mind and faith.
