Hrvatski narod was a Croatian weekly from Zagreb. Soon after its publication, it became a daily newspaper. Its chief editor was Mile Budak, and its political editor was Ivan Oršanić. The director was Marko Čović. Among others, articles were written by Marko Čović, Ivo Bogdan, Matija Kovačić, Stipe Ćorlukić and others. The paper became the backbone of the Ustasha homeland organization at a time when the Ustasha were a banned organization in Yugoslavia and when most of the movement was in emigration. With the establishment of the NDH, the Croatian people become a leading party.
