Summary
Raymond Aron: Peace and War Among Nations
PEACE AND WAR AMONG NATIONS is undoubtedly Aron's most ambitious theoretical-political work, which is simultaneously an attempt at theoretical elaboration and sociology of international relations, but also an analysis of the state of the world around 1960 and, finally, "praxeology", i.e. consideration of the "normative implications" of the theory. If you keep this in mind, it is completely understandable that this work of Aaron's is considered one of the fundamental works on the subject in contemporary world literature and has been translated into many languages. Despite all the remarks and objections, which always accompany a work of such intellectual ambition, the fact remains that this book is one of the greatest works of its kind in the 20th century and that, regardless of its specificity, it was especially actualized by the wars of the nineties, which repeatedly warned that sociological, political and philosophical reflection on war and peace is not a given, but a given topic. - Editors.
Raymond Aron, one of the most significant political writers of the 20th century, wrote this already classic book about war and
peace in 1962. The work is an attempt at a theoretical elaboration of international relations, but also a historical, sociological and political
study of the state of the world at that time, marked by bloc division and the threat of nuclear war. The modern world is essentially determined by these relationships, so the book is still relevant today. The Croatian edition is prepared according to the edition from 1984, which also contains a new preface by the author.
