Summary

Riccardo Campa: Calculation of Consequences

Translated from the Italian by Moran Čale Knežević, Smiljka Malinar, Mate Maras

"Art is a non-place (utopia) where the mind strives to confirm the cognitive criterion. At the beginning of common time, everything is utopian, because the dangers of existence condemn every form of social organization to the temporary. The Horde is a traveling utopia, which gradually comes to the realization of the existing in accordance with basic needs and ancient drives." (Marijan Šunjić, in the foreword to the book)

"Modern society is deceiving in terms of the degree of spontaneity and originality that it allows individuals to express. The network of relationships and mutual conditioning is actually such that it destroys any subjective attempt that would like to highlight strangeness or anti-conformity. The freedom of modern people is difficult not only to achieve, but even to determine, since, to put it mildly, individuals who engage in isolated action are exposed to inconvenience, if it has some purpose that is not pure If it is understood as a region in which norms have not penetrated, anti-sociality is practically unattainable: whatever it is, whatever idea is represented, all these manifestations can always be reduced to the auspices of a "common way of thinking". Dissidence itself, and transgression itself, are envisaged as forms of contestation that the community order can bear. which seeks a deeper interpretive connection with current events: the harder the past is shaped, the more difficult it is to justify the present. Visions often lead to the merging of aspects of reality, but they are refuted by monolithism and unanimity: everything that appears on the surface of the world does not necessarily find justification in an established cognitive system, and yet cannot be considered secondary or precisely pleonastic to the degree of credibility that more or less explicitly conditions the heritage of already acquired beliefs and trusts."
