Summary
Hans Blix: The disarmament of Iraq: truth and deception
Back in December 1999, the UN Security Council founded the Commission for Monitoring, Verification and Inspection of Weapons, which was supposed to monitor Iraq, and which was headed by the Swedish diplomat Hans Blix. After US President Bush planned to attack Iraq in 2002 under the accusation that it possessed weapons of mass destruction, Hans Blix and his team intensified controls over Iraq. This book describes their work in the field, their race against time and the futile search for weapons that did not exist, the already lost battle with American military and political hegemony, but it also describes the attempt to stop another unnecessary war and the suffering of tens of thousands of innocents, which unfortunately eventually came to pass.
