Summary
Derek Chollet: The Secret History of Dayton
American Diplomacy and the Peace Process in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1995
The story of Dayton is a story about stopping the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but at the same time it is a document about the political, war and diplomatic processes in the wider area of Southeast Europe in the last century. The book by Derek Chollet, an American expert on foreign policy and national security policy, presents the events that preceded the end of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In parallel, the author describes the situation on the ground and the war operations that intensified in the summer of 1995, as well as the situation in international relations, which further complicated the already too complex war situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The book actually testifies to the numerous efforts that American diplomacy undertook both in negotiations with all warring parties and with international factors in an effort to end the bloody war.
