Summary

Frano Jurić: Franciscan monastery in Dubrovnik Rijeka

JURIĆ, Frano (Franjo), historian and publicist (Krapanj, August 27, 1884 — Rome, June 20, 1924). He finished grammar school in Zadar in 1902, and philosophical and theological studies in Dubrovnik in 1906. He entered the Franciscan Order in 1900, and was ordained a priest in 1906. As a priest, he worked in Dubrovnik, Kotor and in the Monastery of Our Lady of the Snows in Cavtat, where he was a guard for some time. He died a sudden death in Rome, where he went to study archeology and art history. He dealt with church history, especially the history of the Franciscan Order in the Dubrovnik region, and published several works on this subject in the publications Prava Crvena Hrvatska (1913–14, 1917–18), List of the Dubrovnik Diocese (1916, 1921–22), Newspapers (1916, 1918), St. Cecilija (1916–17, 1919), National Consciousness (1922) and Bulic's Collection (Zagreb—Split 1924). Prepared and supplemented with documents Holy Cross (Zagreb 1909, Dubrovnik 1914 and 1929) V. Letunić. In his manuscript, a work about the Monastery of the Snow Lady and material about folk treasures that he collected in Konavle (Archive of the Monastery of the Little Brothers in Dubrovnik) remained.
