The author presents the history of Croatia in the period of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, with special reference to the presentation of the peculiarities of the communist system and the confrontation between federalist and centralist forces. He talks extensively about the nature of national relations in the Yugoslav state, especially about the relations between Croats and Serbs in Croatia. Using the multitude of available literature and archival materials, the author presents an extremely complete and fresh account of the emergence and disappearance of Yugoslavia.
