Summary
Manes Sperber: Police understanding of history and other essays
Political processes are the continuation of political struggle by other means. They allow and enable the holders of power to hide behind a lofty mask - justice, while the opponents of the regime and what they fight for are reduced to the measure and plight of the individual, creating a personal problem for him, his mistakes and weaknesses of his past. Thus it becomes possible for the adversary to be accused of not having attained complete perfection, a sin usually imputed only to the accused individual. The outcome of the struggle, which then begins between the victor and his captor, would be unequivocally determined from the very beginning if it was the last struggle provoked by power with the aim of consolidating power, regime or social order. However, the power that goes into the last battle never emerges victorious.
