Summary
Josip Manolić: Politics and homeland: my fight for a sovereign and social Croatia
The long-awaited memoirs of Josip Manolić, "the oldest European intelligence officer", anti-fascist, first associate of the President of the Republic of Croatia Dr. Franjo Tuđman, former Croatian Prime Minister, the man "who knows the most secrets" from the time of the Second World War, the former socialist Yugoslavia, the Homeland War and the period of the creation of a democratic and independent Croatia.
Josip Manolić belongs to a generation of politicians and public workers who played important roles in shaping recent Croatian history in a long, turbulent period. Although today at an advanced age, he has not lost his sense of sharp and clear judgments, characteristic of him during many years of public speaking.
"Time passes and the relevance of numerous events fades. With this book, I wanted to tear a part of the event from oblivion, but also tell my truth, the truth as I saw and experienced it, and leave a memoiristic material for generations to come for further research.
I have been participating for almost 75 years. in the political life of Croatia, the Independent State of Croatia, and, of course, the Socialist Federal Republic of Croatia. I destroyed two, built and destroyed one, and created one.
My life and work were recorded and evaluated for a long time by various media, I gave numerous interviews, commented on events and phenomena, but now I decided to personally record everything that happened partly remained hidden from the public and in which I participated or directly witnessed..." (Josip Manolić)
