Summary
Henry Bogdan: The Thirty Years' War
In 1618, under the name of the Thirty Years' War, the greatest demographic suffering that ever befell the German world began. This basically religious conflict originated from the heart of Europe, from the Czech Republic, where under the leadership of Jan Hus the signs that preceded the Reformation appeared, then it gradually turned into a political conflict. The armed conflict between the Emperor Ferdinand II and some of the territorial, Protestant princes provided the Protestant rulers in Europe, first the King of Denmark, Christian IV and the King of Sweden, Gustav Adolf, an excellent excuse to interfere in German affairs, in order to extract additional territorial advantages from them.
