Summary
Dominique Moisi: The Geopolitics of Emotion
This is the first book to explore the far-reaching impact of emotions on globalization. Moisi claims that fear of "others" governs America and Europe. He notes that this fear separates them, instead of bringing them together, because of the debates on how to overcome it. On the other hand, the Muslim community in the diaspora lives in a culture of humiliation due to historical grievances, as well as civil and religious conflicts. The author notes that Asia has concentrated on creating a better future by taking the economic initiative from the West.
Do these emotions represent basic cultural tendencies characteristic of certain regions and peoples? How will these different feelings affect the world? How will the West overcome fear and avoid the transition to militarism? Kako će muslimani nadići poniženje? Will China and India retain their status as countries of hope? The Geopolitics of Emotion presents a new, provocative view of globalization.
An incredibly creative response to Samuel Huntington's book "The Clash of Civilizations"... A revolutionary analysis... It shows the real consequences of the "clash of emotions" and concludes how these currents will change in the coming years.
Publisher Weekly
This is the best of Moses: an original, challenging and elegant work. Ova knjiga pokazuje kako je globalizacija krivotvorila nove svjetske nerede koliko sudarom emocija toliko i borbama oko moći.
