Summary
Roger Steer: J. Hudson Taylor - a man in Christ
Hudson Taylor was only 21 years old when he sailed from England, not expecting to ever see his family again. Before that, he had already learned that he could trust God even when he only had one coin in his pocket. And so in a foreign country, with the support of an unreliable missionary society thousands of kilometers away, he set out to preach the gospel to the Chinese.
He died at the age of 73 and traveled to China eleven times in his lifetime. During that time, more than eighteen thousand Chinese Christians were baptized, and the mission he founded became the largest mission in China with its 825 members.
"Few people have been used by God to touch China as He used Hudson Taylor... The principles of simple living, well-grounded obedience, prayer with faith and patient endurance, so clearly described in this story, encourage us to re-examine what it means to be a man in Christ." Billy Graham
