Summary
Shozan Jack Haubner: Zen Top Secret
Zen Top Secret is a collection of hilarious essays about life inside and outside a Buddhist monastery. Shozan Jack Haubner was raised in a conservative Catholic family, studied philosophy, but decided to pursue a career as a screenwriter and stand-up comedian in L.A. clubs. The journey he's taken - from a fast-paced life in Los Angeles to sitting on a meditation cushion - is the subject of this laugh-out-loud confessional. Haubner is someone you simply have to listen to, whether he's talking about the antics of a juvenile delinquent, his assistant in the convent kitchen, or how he proved he wasn't in a porn movie under the name "Daniel Reed" (which he really wasn't), or the compassion shown him by his teacher. Shozan Jack Haubner opens the soul and at the same time causes bursts of laughter, but also amazes with astonishing insights into the human condition.
