Summary
George Monbiot: The Age of Agreement
Manifesto for a New World Order
George Monbiot, highly respected publicist commentator, Guardian columnist, background figure of many alternative movements in Great Britain, here examines the global mechanisms behind world wars, peace processes, international trade and believes that the current monolithic state of globalization keeps poor countries subjugated and does not allow their effective development. At the same time, he very convincingly proves that control over the decision-making mechanisms on the exchange of goods should be given to real, democratically elected representatives, and removed from the competence of non-elected directors, who decide everything and on whose decisions we all depend ("the unelected rich executives"). In doing so, he expressly renounces any parallel anarchist or Marxist doctrines, believing that the only solution is the World Parliament, which mirrors the best experiences of parliamentary representation of the will of the people: global democracy is the only one that can ensure the development of poor countries that cannot currently participate in the transmission of will and the flow of ideas; they do not participate in deciding what concerns them the most. We all suffer the consequences.
