With the introduction of a multi-party social system and the institution of democratic elections, public opinion becomes a current subject of social research in our country. This book (the author's doctoral dissertation) is divided into three large units, which discuss the theoretical determinants of public opinion, then public opinion as a subject of empirical research, and finally the validity of public opinion research in Croatia is systematically analyzed. The results of 15 mutually independent surveys of public opinion, conducted in the period from 1990 to 1993, on the subject of elections and referendums in Croatia, are presented. This book can serve as literature for students of social sciences, and also for those who are already engaged in public opinion research.
