Summary
Giovanna Franca, Dalla Costa: A Labor of Love
Giovanna Franca Dalla Costa's "A Labor of Love," originally published in 1978, is a key feminist text on the issue of violence against women in contemporary society. For her, violence represents the very labor relationship in which a woman is forced to perform reproductive work without monetary compensation within the framework of a capitalist economy. Dalla Costa also recognizes the significant role that the state plays in perpetuating violence against women, and accordingly, Rad Love offers a politicization of the issue of gender-based violence that includes the fight against work and the state.
