Summary
Victor Hubinon, Jean Michel Charlier: Redbeard 2: The Nameless Captain/ Challenge to the King/ Son of Redbeard
Redbeard is the fear and trembling of the Caribbean Sea, a cruel pirate who roams the high seas. He is the protagonist of numerous exciting adventures, in which his courage and intelligence, as well as his ability to lead, enable him and his crew to get out of the greatest difficulties. Erik is his adopted son, who wants to take a different path, to live an honest, honorable life. However, all his attempts to get away from danger and life on the edge bring him back to the environment in which he grew up. Although they are not similar in character, both Redbeard and Erik are exceptional sailors, with amazing strategic abilities, and are impeccable fighters.
Set in the 18th century, this comic often refers to historical events from that period, bringing to life before us the unusual world of sailors on both sides of the law, as well as the complex relationships between the great powers of that era. The character of Redbeard itself is based on different real personalities, pirates and sailors. Redbeard has gained great popularity in the countries where it originated, but also in the areas of the former Yugoslavia.
