Barbarogenije - Antibarbarus

Janković Satrijani Milan

Summary

Milan Janković Satrijani: Barbarogeniej - Antibarbarus

"Barbarogeniej - Antibarbarus is a work that brings to life the personality and last years of the life of the famous Ljubomir Micić, poet, prose writer and founder of the literary and artistic movement Zenitism between the two world wars. He is also the founder of the magazine Zenit in which numerous domestic and foreign artists collaborated (Crnjanski, Vinaver, Petrović, Tokin, Matić, Majakovski, Jesenin, Blok, Pasternek, Kandinski, Maljevič, Picasso, Modiljani...).

Barbarogenie-Antibarbarus is a polygenre work, on the border between biographical notes and novelistic reading; the author plays didactically in a space that is genre-limited by a pseudo-scientific study and a realistic novel, connecting and intertwining facts and rumors, with the aim of reinterpreting the character of the creator. In this process, he uses extensive materials, from academic and archival, to letters, memories of contemporaries, or indirect sources such as newspaper articles, scientific studies or popular essays, and in his literary experiment he also uses secondary or tertiary sources, trying to combine and mix facts, rumors, lesser-known details and assumptions regarding the artist's everyday life, but also his relationship to art, other literary movements and contemporaries. (but also the attitude of the authorities at the time towards him).

The sad end of this somewhat forgotten and often marginalized artist is an emblematic example of Yugoslav and later Serbian society's lack of concern for prominent artists who are part of the literary and artistic heritage. However, it should be noted that in the twenty-first century, the interest of the literary public in the work and life of Ljubomir Micić is reviving. The contribution of this book is that it tries to brings the life and personality of this avant-garde artist directly closer to those with a sweet tooth and curious readers."
