Summary
Ana Elizabet - Realized and unrealized works in public space (1997-2014)
Designer: Saša Šimpraga
ANA Elizabet is a sculptor from Zagreb. She studied metal restoration and conservation at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna, and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts there, majoring in sculpture. For several years she worked exclusively on sculptural projects, being completely involved in the process; she made her own large sculptures from aluminum, steel and other materials, thinking about their everyday, use value, through the dynamics of relationships and the wider social context, often tying them to intimate life situations, people from the immediate environment.
As the historian Ružica Šimunović says: "ANA Elizabet, of course, does not conceive the sculpture for the "idealized context of a universal museum", she is not interested in an "exhibition object" but rather the effort to achieve (installation!) which is the function of exploring space (sculpture) and creating context. Her work was conceived in the form and thematic vein, which is a consequence of "the Rodin effect, the Brancusi effect, the Duchamp effect."
