Summary

Iva Korbler, Tonko Maroević: Zdenka Pozaić

Professor Albert Kinert. In 1968, she completed the Special School for Graphics under professor Marijan Detoni.

From 1964 to 1969, she lived in the English cities of Richmond, Windsor, and London, as well as in Scotland and Ireland. She found great inspiration for her work in woodcut and linocut at the exhibitions of Japanese graphics in the Victoria and Albert Museum.

In addition to all major Croatian cities, she had solo exhibitions in Erlangen, Zurich, Ljubljana, Bonn, Prague and Suwalki. She participated in more than 300 group exhibitions in almost all European countries, Australia, Egypt, China, South Korea, Canada, Iran and Indonesia.

In her graphics, poetic-graphic maps, collages and wood reliefs, she is especially dedicated to sacred themes. She published six poetic-graphic maps (among which Biti mi daj by Bonaventure Dude stands out) and 48 titles in the Word and Image edition. She started the DUB library, where she published the works of older Croatian poets, such as Marko Marulić and Ivo Vojnović. On the border between figuration and abstraction, she works with drawings, woodcuts and linocuts in which she translates motifs from reality into an arabesque of solid lines and flickering surfaces, achieving an exceptional synthesis of impression (Dvorište u Čazma, 1970; Self-portrait or the sound of the sea, 1983).

She is the recipient of the Order of Danica Croatia with the image of Marko Marulić.
