Summary
Giuseppe Rosaccio: Veduta Skradin / Scardona
Copper engraving
From the work: Viaggio da Venetia, a Costantinopoli : per mare, e per terra & insieme quello di Terra Santa, Venice, Giacomo Franco, 1598
Veduta shows Skradin after the Turkish conquests. The mosque that was adapted by the Turks after the conquest is shown on the site of the old Catholic church. On the view there is a fortress where the princes of Bribirski dined and the Orthodox church of St. Fridays. In 1647, the Republic of Venice freed Skradin from Turkish rule.
It is based on a view made by Božo Bonifačić for Comocio's isola in 1571, which served as a template for Rosaccio.
