Summary
Pietro Santini: Westlichertheil von Dalmatien / Western Dalmatia
Copper engraving
Franz Anton Schraembl (1751 - 1803) was a Viennese cartographer active in the later part of the 18th century. Schraembl was in partnership with Joseph von Reilly. His great work, Allgemeiner Grosser Atlas was launched in 1786. This ambitious atlas was to be based only on the latest available cartographic data. Schraembl based his maps on the works of explorers such as Cook, Roberts and others. The atlas was finally completed in 1800, but, perhaps limited by high production costs, it enjoyed a relatively minimal circulation.
