Summary
Leontije Pavlović: Facial cults among Serbs and Macedonians: Historical-ethnographic discussion
Leontije Pavlović (1914–1997), doctor of historical sciences, senior scientific advisor, theologian, art historian and publicist. His doctoral dissertation "Facial Cults among Serbs and Macedonians: Historical-Ethnographic Discussion" was published in 1965 at the Museum in Smederevo. Over time, this unique interdisciplinary study has become indispensable and often used in the works of historians, art historians, ethnologists and other cultural scientists. Since its publication until today, a large number of new cults have been established and several canonizations have been carried out by the Serbian Orthodox Church. It should also be borne in mind that the social conditions in relation to the cult and its confession have changed to a significant extent. A large number of studies and articles were written that brought new knowledge and interpretations related to old and newly established cults. However, despite everything, this book has not lost its importance, so its new edition is urgently needed.
