Summary
Jean-Luc Marion: The Erotic Phenomenon
Six Meditations
Jean Luc Marion's works have been translated into dozens of languages. Marion is a philosopher and theologian who does not "pay" for the breadth of the thematic spectrum of the problems he deals with by simplification; on the contrary, he is characterized by an unusual recognizable penetratingness of thought, which is accompanied by clarity of expression. In the work "Erotic Phenomenon" he does not deal only with one special anthropological phenomenon, but presents an ingenious, critically intoned thesis according to modern metaphysics, according to which the so-called "erotic difference" is a much more appropriate starting point for thinking about man and reality than the ontological or cognitive one. Marion's main historical philosophical origin is represented by the critique of Cartesianism, which originally and ingeniously observes the shortcomings both in the consideration of physicality and in the conceptualization of consciousness.
