Josip Završki: Zagreb: musical center of the Croats
Završki, Josip, Croatian conductor and music writer (Zagreb, 12. II. 1917 – Zagreb, 16. IX. 2008). He completed his studies at the Academy of Music in Zagreb (1952). Worked as a high school teacher and advisor for music education in the Slovak Republic of Croatia (1961–82). Founded the children's choirs of Radio Zagreb (1949) and HNK (1958) in Zagreb. He is particularly responsible for expanding the network of primary and secondary music schools in Croatia. From the 1960s to the beginning of the 1980s, he published as an author and co-author a number of textbooks and school manuals in numerous editions, as well as a number of articles in professional magazines and newspapers.
