Summary
Mark Twain: The King and the Beggar
One of the pearls among the works of the most important American writer Mark Twain is The King and the Beggar. Its content is based on the exchange of two very similar boys - the prince, later King Edward VI. and a poor boy from the suburbs of London. The author contrasted two worlds - the opulence of the English court in the 16th century and the poverty of the English people among whom the prince goes through incredible, often cruel adventures. In terms of style and language, the work is brilliantly written and imbued with the famous "Twain" humor and satire. The book is in the reading for VI. grade of primary school
