Summary

Watslav Nizinsky: Dnevnik

The diary consists of three parts: Life, Death, and Feelings with an Epilogue. It intertwines descriptions of unusual experiences, hallucinations, the most sublime sermons and statements of strange poetic beauty. That book is an unusual message to people, in which Nijinsky explains his views on art, life, death, and God. There is something martyr, pathetic and mournful in the tone of Dnevnik. Ta intonacija, taj čudački i neponovljivi profetski ton podsjeća na djela drugih „tamnih“ i „ukletih“ genija, kakvi su bili Holderlin, Nietzsche, Van Gogh ili Artaud. Both Nijinsky's voice and their voices came from the depths of psyches torn apart and tormented by mental illness. Both their and his writing and creation were attempts to katabase into the dark regions of the subconscious. Maybe futile attempts. Ali, pokušaji koji su za sobom ostavili one skoro savršene, čarobne Holderlinove himne, zavodljivo Nietzscheovo djelo Ecce homo, Van Goghove slike i divna pisma bratu Teu, Artaudove tekstove poput onog Van Gogh samoubijen društvom i, napokon, ovaj Dnevnik „Boga plesa“ Vaclava Nižinskog.
