Summary
Peter Handke: The Great Fall
The Great Fall covers one day - from morning to late night - in the life of an aging actor who moves from the suburbs of the metropolis to the center in order to be presented with a prestigious award by the president of the country. Along the way, he meets homeless people and immigrants, then comes to an abandoned railroad, where the police briefly stop him on suspicion of being a terrorist. Nothing beats stepping into the very heart of a city where people are alienated and under the devastating influence of modern technology.
The Hero's Walk is part pilgrimage, part crusade filled with deep reflection on the world we live in.
