Anita Pajević: Reductions

Anita Pajević is a young and extremely talented poet from Mostar who appeared with her first collection Perlinov šum in 2016. Apart from that binding, her poetry was recognized and published in many literary magazines. Perlinov šum is a poetry book that won the Slovo Bitterčina award. Second book of poetry, before that magazine publications, after that some publications again. This tells us that it is a matter of talent behind a lot of work and that each poem is precisely honed so that the final coffee in the company of the book is long, tasty and beckons for many repetitions.
Reductions are small poetic booklets of a conceptual nature in which the title is placed on one side and the text of the poem on the other side. In addition to the obvious song titles, there are also quotes from different cultural imaginaries that play the role of titles. They serve as semantic guideposts in the dense and complex poetic structure of the book. Thus, the book is read as a whole of broken lines and full structures and requires a great reader's precision and concentration.
In addition to exceptional development in this above all complex poetics and leaving an essential mark in its realization, Anita Pajević's poetry can also serve as a notebook of the expressive possibilities of the Croatian language, above all in creating metaphors and questioning the valence of nouns, adjectives and verbs. Such a commendable remark is of interest to linguists, not only to literary theorists and critics.
