Summary
Encyclopedic Dictionary of Human and Veterinary Medical Terminology
Encyclopedic Dictionary of Human and Veterinary Medical Terminology is important for the consistency and accuracy of professional language. Latin and Greek sources provided medical terminology with international significance, but terminology in vernacular languages also developed at the same time. Although the systematic collection of medical terminology in our country developed to a considerable extent at the end of the 19th century. century, there was a void in that area until the demanding project launched in cooperation with the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
Encyclopedic dictionary of human and veterinary medical nomenclature brings the Croatian word, shows its, most often Latin, origin, provides a concise and accurate definition of the given medical name and, in addition to the Croatian and Latin name, gives synonyms in English, German and French.
In the second part, there is an index of all official Latin terms. This greatly enriched the heritage that the Institute acquired by creating the Medical Encyclopedia and the Medical Lexicon and created a base that will continue to be supplemented. As a systematic representation of the entire medical terminology, the Dictionary has an inestimable normative value and corrects the discrepancy with regard to many other nations that already have related manuals.
