Pausanias: Guide to Hellas (2nd supplemental ed.)
Guide to Hellas is one of the most famous travelogues of ancient Greece. Works of this type were called periegesis in the Hellenistic era and were aimed at describing buildings and works of art in cities and provinces. Pausanias traveled through Greece, but in his descriptions he used the works and information of other writers. He left a work rich in geographical and historical data, but he often exaggerates. In his work, he also includes many notes and information from the life of nature, various anecdotes, folklore interesting things.
