The monograph represents a valuable contribution to the historiography of numismatics in the area of Istria and Kvarner. With the book "The Numismatic History of Rijeka", where all important data on the circulation and use of money in the period of 25 centuries are processed, it forms one whole. "Ancient period" is the first chapter in which the author examines Greek, Celtic and Roman money historically. The following is a typology of coins of the Byzantine Empire, Lombard and Frankish states. At the same time, he analyzes the politics and economy of the Middle Ages in numismatic terms, as well as the Venetian money that was in circulation in the mentioned area under the rule of the Republic of Venice and in the era of the Habsburgs. The publication contains photographs important for the history of numismatics, with a description of the dated monetary specimen.
