Summary
Martine Segalen: Sociology of the Family
From the fear of the disappearance of the family and its functions in the early 1970s, through criticism of individual family structures, to optimism and renewed faith in its "bright future", the family was constantly in the focus of public interest. In an effort to show how the family resisted social changes or adapted to them, Martine Segalan focused on the analysis of the modern family and contemporary problems: domestic violence, motherhood and employment, homosexual unions, the increase in the number of divorces, etc.
