The translator of the book is the Koper dragoman Giovan Rinaldo Carli (1646-1722).

The first Italian edition of "Taqwim al-Tawarikh", an analytical chronicle from the creation of man to 1648, which it was compiled by the famous Turkish historian Katib Celebi (1609-57). This is also the first printing of a work by Katib Chelebi in a European language. The chronicle was not published in the original mixture of Persian and Ottoman Turkish until 1733, published by Müteferrika. "The book was created as an extract from Celebi's previous work 'Fazlakat aqwal al-ahyar', but the events described in the ost continue up to Celebi's time. This book is referred to by important historians Hüseyin Hezarfenn, Seyhi and Ibrahim Müteferrik. It has been translated into Latin, Italian and French. Today the afterword is the main part of interest, as it contains a short discussion of the regularities or laws of history, and the initial elaboration of his ideas about causal connections in history, which Na'ima (d. 1716) later copied. Celebi became a military official and took part in many campaigns in the East. In the meantime, he was taught the Qurʾān and calligraphy, but his later education was irregular; he attended lectures between military campaigns settled permanently in Constantinople, where, in addition to his duties as a civil servant, he was able to devote all his time to book-collecting, study and writing. Among his main works is: Kashf al-ẓunʿan al-kutub wa al-funūn ("Removal of Doubt from Books and Science"). of Arabic, Persian, and Turkish books published up to his time. His Jihannuma ("View of the World") is a geographical work in which European atlases and other sources are used for the first time. to the Ottoman Empire of his time; and Mizan al-ḥaqq fi ihtijārī al-ahaqq (The Balance of Truth) defends the positive sciences and Islamic doctrine and criticizes fanaticism.
