Summary

Anthology of Anton Bozanić

edited by: Tomislav Galović

Vlč. Ph.D. Anton Bozanić, parish priest in Omišalj and dean of the Omišalj deanery - a well-known and recognized Krk church historian specializing in Croatian modern and contemporary history celebrated his seventieth birthday last year (2022). Knowing about this high life anniversary, the Historical Society of the Island of Krk (of which Anton Bozanić, Ph.D. is a long-term member) decided at its Annual General Meeting held in Malinska on December 11, 2021 that the Krk Proceedings of the Historical Society of the Island of Krk, as its Special Edition, vol. 66., will be entirely dedicated to doc. Ph.D. Anton Bozanić - a prominent member of the Historical Society of the Island of Krk and a true promoter of Krk's cultural and spiritual heritage. Many friends and colleagues of the celebrant responded to the invitation. At the beginning of Anton Bozanić's Collection, there are welcoming words in the form of Prologues, written by Msgr. Valter Župan, bishop of Krk in peace and the Editorial Board of the Krk Collection. The collection of Anton Bozanić contains two volumes entitled Vita et opera and Studia in honorem Antonia Bozanić. The first part contains a curriculum vitae and a list of books, studies and articles (bibliographia) doc. Ph.D. Anton Bozanić. This is followed by a series of works that thematize and bring readers closer to different segments from his life and works. This is how Dina Valković writes about the newspaper/magazine Vrbnički vidica and the role of Anton Bozanić in starting it. Together, Ksenija Čulina and Josip Žgaljić bring readers closer to the three-decade-long collaboration between Dr. sc. Anton Bozanić and publisher Glos d.o.o. from Rijeka (1992 – 2022). Vesna Kukavica valorizes the research on Croatian emigration conducted by Ph.D. Anton Bozanić during his stay in the United States (1993 – 1998), and Julijano Sokolić in his text presents Anton Bozanić as "the most prolific writer among priests and monks about the Cres-Lošinj archipelago". The last two contributions in this volume have documentary and literary value. Gordana Gržetić writes about little-known details from Vrbnica's past under the title "The hand of holiness on the spring of wisdom" (blessed Ivan Merz), and Marija Trinajstić Božić brings her poems - Vrbniče dear - in honor of our birthday. The second part of Anton Bozanić's Collection includes twelve (12) scientific and professional papers, all of which were written in honor of Assoc. Ph.D. Anton Bozanić: Studia in honorem Antonia Bozanić. Friar Ljudevit Anton Maračić (OFM Conv.) writes about conventual monasteries in Kvarner and their inventories. Prof. Ph.D. Marijan Bradanović brings us closer to the cultural landscape of the princes of Krka in basic aspects, while Perica Dujmović directs us towards a more complete biography of Dobrić Dobričević (Boninus de Boninis, 1457/1458 – 1528), a prominent European printer originally from the island of Lastovo. Juraj Mužina and prof. Ph.D. Sanja Zubčić brought materials for the history of the old church of St. Apollinaris in Dubašnica (1153 - 1834), and prof. Ph.D. Marija Turk presents Friar Dragutin Antun Parčić from Vrbnica as a lexicographer and promoter of Croatian language renewal. About the bishop at the turn of the century - Antun Mahnić (1850 - 1920) - is briefly written by associate professor. Ph.D. Tomislav Galović. A cultural-historical essay on the shrine of Our Lady of Gorička on the island of Krk is signed by Juraj Lokmer, and Miljenko Seršić-Krala and prof. Ph.D. Željko Bartulović are working on the administrative history of Baška Municipality in the period from 1918 to 1929. John Peter Kraljic (M.A., J.D.) reports on Omisaljani in New York during the 1940s and 1950s, while Željko Drinjak shows the religious communities on the island of Krk during the period of the Homeland War. The last two papers in this unit are signed by prof. Ph.D. Jerko Valković (From the common to the universal common good. New emphasis on the common good in the social teaching of the Church) and Rev. Zvonimir Badurina Dudić (Brief description of the apostolic exhortation of Pope Francis "Rejoice and shout").
