Summary
Mavro Orbini: Kingdom of the Slavs
Using extensive literature, available archival material and oral tradition, the author presents the history of the Slavs, especially those in Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Bulgaria. It proves the autochthonousness of the Slavs in our region since Alexander the Great. He translated the Annals of Popa Dukljanin according to a template that is now lost. Mavro Orbini used extensive material, in some places not preserved to this day, and regardless of the fact that it sometimes lacks precision, it represents an important historiographical work. The work has experienced numerous citations, uses, translations of parts and wholes, criticisms and confirmations. It is also extremely important for the history of medieval Bosnia. In 1603, the Kingdom of the Slavs was on the list of prohibited books, and the reasons were found in the use of prohibited authors and their works.
