Summary
Andrew Robinson: A Brief History of India
India has more than four millennia of history and rich experience of relations with its neighbors, whether they were conquerors or traders. Andrew Robinson's book A Brief History of India is a kind of introduction to that rich history that describes relations with ancient China, the birth of Buddhism, the arrival of Alexander the Great and contacts with the Roman Empire. Then the Mughal period and then the arrival of the British and the colonial era. The book also describes today's India, which has grown into a world political and military power. Autor je pitkim jezikom i popularnim, ali ne i površnim pristupom učinio povijest Indije pristupačnom svjetskom čitatelju koji nije nužno upućen u sve rukavce indijske kulturne i političke povijesti. The book is equipped with a series of historical photographs, and it was translated by award-winning translator Dinko Telećan, also an excellent connoisseur of India, both its history and culture. A Short History of India is the first comprehensive Indian history in the Croatian language.
Andrew Robinson (1957) is a British writer and journalist, educated at Oxford and Eton. Ever since his first visit to India in 1975, he has been involved in its cultural and social events.
