Summary
Ivan Đurić: Pagania - Serbia and Byzantium in the Balkans
With the fall of the border, Belgrade will also fall into the hands of the barbarians, the starting point of every road across the Balkans, the other end of which was in Constantinople... There is Byzantium, the latter city of Constantine, for the South Slavs simply the "imperial city" or, under the Ottomans, Stambol, today's Istanbul. The road by which most of the pilgrims arrived in Constantinople for centuries was simply a "road" or "big road" for our ancestors, and it went more or less the way it goes today.
