Boris Franušić: History of navigation in Croats Franušić, Boris, Croatian navigation historian (Ston, June 14, 1933 – Dubrovnik, January 3, 2012). In 1963, he graduated in astronomy at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics in Belgrade, and in 1992 he received his doctorate at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics in Zagreb. From 1963 he taught astronomical navigation at the Higher Maritime School, and from 1986 at the Maritime Faculty in Dubrovnik. Year In 1993, he was elected to the first convocation of the County House of the Parliament of the Republic of Croatia, in which he was a representative of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County for two terms. He published several scientific and professional works in the field of astronomical navigation and the history of navigation. Main works: Columbus: How the New World Was Discovered (1992) and History of Navigation in Croatia (1994), one of the rare works about Croatia's nautical past.
