Summary
Claudio Naranjo: Character and Neurosis
The interpretation I propose can also be described as a transpersonal or spiritual view of character and neurosis, or – alternatively – as an existentialist view, since, as we will see, spiritual “darkening” is equated with the loss of being; my interpretation can also be described as clinical research in the usual scope of personality theorists, which includes a mathematical approach and psychodynamic study of personality traits and their mutual connections, and finally as a consideration of different characterological orientations in terms of defense strategies and evaluation criteria associated with certain illusions about the satisfaction of desire.
