Summary
Joseph Nguyen: Don't believe everything you think: Your thoughts are the beginning and end of your suffering
Overthinking is the root of all mental suffering. Thoughts create, and overthinking destroys. As soon as we start thinking, we throw them into the shackles of our own limiting beliefs and prejudices, creating reasons why we cannot achieve or do something.
Our natural states are joy, love and peace, and any excessive thinking takes us away from these states. The intensity of all our negative emotions is directly related to the amount of thinking. Therefore - when we are under stress - we tend to overanalyze, and at that moment the strength of the negative emotion we feel is proportional to the degree of thoughtfulness.
Using his rich pedagogical experience, the author explores the causes of all our mental and emotional suffering and discovers how to free our mind and create the life we want to live. Following his insights, we will learn how to create more moments of joy and peace, and overcome anxiety and self-doubt.
