Summary

Maurice Cocagnac: Biblical Symbols - Theological Glossary

This glossary of theological biblical symbols as offered by Maurice Cocagnac is not a dictionary that is only occasionally consulted. Of course, it can be used to get answers to some specific questions, but its use is broader. This is not an ordinary glossary born from a certain philosophy that offers another pedagogical method, but tries to unify the main symbols in order to better illuminate them in their mutual relations. Biblical symbolism is not a mere system of coded formulas - here every image is given a meaning. The experience of those who read the Bible for a long time shows that even texts read several times provide a completely new meaning every time. Therefore, this work tries to help the reading of the Bible more fluently. Biblical symbols are presented by topic with quotations from biblical texts and form a whole. Their purpose is to arouse the desire for further research, in which we can use analytical tools, but we can also direct ourselves towards the discovery of hidden meanings. Maurice Cocagnac lower images in their dynamic connection, so it is useful to follow him, which is not the case when it comes to an ordinary lexicon. These symbols are linked here in their natural context and in their spontaneous expansion. Product rating
